What is a manpower-loaded schedule?

A manpower-loaded schedule is a construction schedule where every activity carries the crew size or labor hours needed to build it. Adding those up week by week shows how many workers a trade needs on site over the life of the job. General contractors ask subcontractors for one to check staffing against the dates.

What does a GC mean by "man-loaded" or "resource-loaded"?

They mean the same thing: a schedule with labor assigned to each activity. "Man-loaded", "manpower-loaded", "labor-loaded" and "resource-loaded" are used interchangeably in subcontracts and scheduling specs. The GC usually wants to see it as a manpower loading chart, also called a manpower histogram or manpower curve, showing workers per week.

How do I build a manpower histogram from a P6 PDF without Primavera?

Does Labor Loader work with Microsoft Project schedules?

Yes. Labor Loader reads Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 schedules exported as PDF, plus XER and XML files. It does not open native .mpp files, so if the GC sends an .mpp, ask for a PDF or XML export of the same schedule and upload that instead.

Is my schedule uploaded anywhere?

No. Extraction runs in your browser, so the schedule file is read on your own computer rather than sent to a server for processing. Nothing is stored unless you choose to save the schedule to a project in your account. The free sandbox saves nothing at all.

Is it free?

Can I compare two schedule revisions?

Which trades does it work for?

Any trade. Labor Loader ships with keyword presets for framing and drywall, concrete, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural steel, roofing, masonry, paint and acoustical ceilings, and you can add your own keywords for anything else. If your work shows up as activities in the schedule, you can pull it out and manpower-load it.
